The Remodelled Ceylon Sapphire
The Remodelled Ceylon Sapphire

This project involved the technical deconstruction and reimagining of a traditional three-stone engagement ring. At the centre of the work is a vivid blue Ceylon sapphire, which was reclaimed from its original setting to be housed in a more contemporary architectural form that reflects the client’s current aesthetic.

Despite years of wear, the sapphire—a gemstone known for its inherent hardness—remained in exceptional condition, showing no signs of surface abrasion or chipping. Its deep, saturated hue remains the focal point of the new design, which was developed to provide a fresh perspective on the stone while honouring its history. The process demonstrates the longevity of the Ceylon sapphire, proving that high-quality gemstones can be successfully transitioned across different eras of design without losing their visual impact or structural integrity.
