Sourcing the Perfect Stone: The first step in this journey was finding a centrepiece that could stand up to the sentiment of the gold band. Calum asked me to source a magnificent one-carat “G” colour diamond. A stone of this calibre offers a beautiful, white brilliance that serves as a striking focal point, providing the “wow factor” that a milestone engagement ring deserves.

Preserving the Past: The true challenge and beauty of this commission lay in the construction of the setting. Calum wanted to use his mother’s wedding ring, which featured beautiful original engraving that he wished to keep intact. To achieve this, I designed an “interlocking” engagement ring. This clever engineering allows the new diamond setting to slot neatly against the original band, protecting the vintage engraving while creating a cohesive, multi-layered look.
