A REMODELLING project for Morven

One of the most rewarding aspects of being a long-established jeweller is the ability to revisit my own work decades later. When Morven called me about remodelling a sapphire and diamond ring, it sparked a lovely trip down memory lane, as I had originally made her interlocking wedding ring over twenty years ago.

The Benefit of Records: Bespoke jewellery is a long-term relationship, and I pride myself on keeping meticulous records of every commission. Even though two decades had passed since I first sat at the bench for Morven, I still had all the specific dimensions and profiles of her wedding ring on file. This meant we didn’t have to start from scratch or worry about guesswork regarding the fit.

The Seamless Fit: Morven’s goal was to have her sapphire and diamond ring remodelled so that it would sit perfectly alongside that original wedding band. Because I knew the exact curvature and height of the existing piece, I could design the new setting to “nestle” against it. This ensured that the two rings would look like a matched set, preventing them from rubbing against each other and causing unnecessary wear.

The Completed Set: The remodelling was a seamless success. By updating the sapphire and diamond ring to match the contours of her wedding band, we created a balanced and comfortable set that looks as though it was always meant to be. It was a joy to work with Morven again and to see a piece I made twenty years ago still being cherished and worn today.
